In this musical world where born-agains vote conservative while still welcoming you into their nightmare (and I'll get to my collection of that particular golf lover soon), and are proclaimed as major influences on a rough and tumbled brand of shockrock taken up by hardcorers these days, lets stop for a moment to not forget what I believe to be sumotherofa bunch of south-of-the-border bastiches that terrorised the playlists during the 60's and 70's. Like vigilantes they would sweep out from their Baja hideouts and rustle up under the leadership of Julius Wechter and tutelage of Herb Albert a mean session of cross-cultural instrumentalisation, then (like a big puff of a fine Cuban) disappear into that souther sunset with the percussion cussin'. There was never the likes of the Baja Marimba Band moustaches in the history of American music as these covers discovers...
