A Company of Four
I'm not one to keep a box unopened, but amongst the Horde of Plastic that surrounds me these four entrappies are held in their casements as mute testimony to the folly of the fleshers..
Aloha Hawaii Pt 3 - Get Down To The Beach
Like that coconut floating across the grand pacific, people drifted onto the Islands and settled into pastimes involving group beach assembling with wild abandon and fragrant flowers dangling.
At somepoint someone returned back to the water but this time with a plank beneath them, thus starting stiff competition from those left on the sandy shores. All they had left to their advantage was a sexy swaying of the hips and an overflowing tikibar..

Port & Dogs = Portdogs
While the plastic fantastic of Squeakies have been my mainstay in toy collecting (pics coming soon or see Boiling Point of Plastic post) every now and then a piece of harden ceramic just pulls on the heart-strings and calls out from some overcrowded bric and brac shelf..
These odd fellows are most engaging and I would love to covet more but in this day and age they seem to have found alternate accommodation in pricey 20th Century vintage-hand dwellings. And even there they are well hidden, preoccupied with decantering.
After a night on the Port these are The Dogs That I Let Out...

hoping to one day have little cups for all..

New Finds on Enmore Road
While I remember, a quick pop into The Cat Protection Soc Op-Shop, Enmore Rd, last Thursday just as they were closing scored this pair of Digger boots ($30) and an ancient (or well used) Mavis Thomas train of the Wooden variety.
Although Lego now reigns supreme in the household, Kaspar still has a firm attraction to Thomas and his workforce, as those who have viewed my KBlocks galleries in Facebook since he first started his preparation for a future engineering degree, can attest..
It seems that of late I am finding old boots that actually fit well and may mean that I can give back to the ether an assorted variety of toe crunchers, blister makers and bad decision fashion choices..

Aloha Hawaii Pt 2 - Tres Coconut Trees
While up in the balmy Top North late last year Kaspar and I were indulging in some tropical sand when a coconut made itself known to us between water and high tide line. I pondered in the lazy way that North Queenslanders had imprinted on me, that just possibly this nut had bobbed all the way from those Volcanic Islands (with possibly a Nene goose clinging on). This took up several minutes of beach combing until I turned around and realised just what type of tree was creating the welcome shade...

Aloha Hawaii Pt 1 - Ukes & Leis
The next few posts will concentrate on that Big Island - Hawaii. Having found many a platter on the Eastern Seaboard of NSW over the years I will assume that we must hold some closeness to those sandy shores... possibly many albums came from the Manly to Palm Beach strip once the cocktail parties had run their course and pineapple on a pizza was at last universally acknowledged..
In this first into part I present a sampling of string instruments and straw hats..

The Great White Bite
This is one collection that I wished I'd been involved with in my childhood, but since that happened two decades before these aquatics crawled into Fission City, I'll have to be satisfied with the occasional find as happened in Lismore of late. Like to thank Cash for increasing my herring swarm to orca proportions, including the fantastic battle car (minus killer teeth) as seen below..
If this interests your tastebuds like any good seafood banquet should, then hit google or jump to this link here to wet your appetite.. then grab some sushimi and settle back to good ol' '90s entertainment!

Now that's way better than Turtles... |
Pure terror - even without the teeth.. |
I'm not sure which came first - these Mattel monstrousniceties or the US TV animated series from 1994, but most likely they went arm-in-arm, reaching for parents pockets like a Great White hunting seal wallets.
So far only two VHS collections of 6 episodes from the 40 produced have fallen into my hands.. but like a binoculared lifeguard, I'm always on the lookout..
